Why I don't sell my photos on stock sites anymore

Are you a photographer looking to make a living from your passion? Have you considered selling your photos on stock photography media sites? While these platforms offer convenience and exposure, there are compelling reasons why some photographers, like myself, prefer to sell their photos on their own store.

Control Over Pricing and Licensing

Stock media sites sell more expensive photography products and the artist behind those photos gains almost zero....and I mean almost zero literally. When you sell your photos on your own store, you have complete control over pricing and licensing. You can set your own rates based on the value you believe your work deserves. This level of control allows you to maximize your earnings and protect the integrity of your work.

Direct Connection with Customers

By selling your photos on your own store, you establish a direct connection with your customers. You can engage with them, understand their needs, and tailor your offerings to meet their preferences. This personal touch can lead to loyal customers who appreciate your work and support your artistic journey.

Brand Building and Recognition

Having your own store gives you the opportunity to build your brand and establish a unique identity in the market. You can showcase your portfolio, tell your story, and differentiate yourself from the competition. This branding effort can lead to increased recognition and trust among customers.

Flexibility and Creative Freedom

When you sell your photos on your own store, you have the freedom to experiment with different styles, themes, and formats. You can unleash your creativity without being bound by the restrictions of stock photography guidelines. This flexibility allows you to express yourself authentically and create truly original work.

While stock photography media sites offer convenience and reach, selling your photos on your own store provides a unique opportunity to take control of your career, connect with your audience, build your brand, and unleash your creativity. So, why settle for the ordinary when you can create something extraordinary?
